A 3d character art commissioned by Kevin Haelterman based on a concept made by Andrius Matijosius and his WW0 works.
The story of this character is pretty interesting as its imagination of his personal Belgian hero character in WW 0 alternative world, inspired by his actual great grandfather who served during The Great War in Belgian army. The character equipments are based on Belgian trench gear during WW1, a medieval inspired helmet based on the real experimental Queen Elisabeth helmet & even references to the Italian Farina Armor used by some Belgian soldiers. The character has a Flemish "goedengad" as his trench club with the sword based on client's own sword and the rifle slung on his bag is based on semi automatic sporting rifle .22 owned by client's great grandfather. The character's heraldy include Kevin Haelterman own coat of arms with his heraldic colors, Flemish lion, and Herzele's coat of arms. The name Oulterman is a nod to a wrong spelling recorded in local registry many generation ago and would likely remain in this alternative history.
Its been an honor for trying to make a character that contains so much personal real history like this and also a challenge for me to push my skill as a character artist further by improving quality especially in hires modelling, texturing department, lighting, & presentation. Cheers and thank you!
